Grayson Holds $1,000,000+ in Cash, Campaign Raises More Than $820,000 in 2nd Quarter

July 11, 2012

Former congressman and current congressional nominee Alan Grayson (D-Orlando) announced today that his campaign sits on a sizeable war chest in his bid to return to Congress. The campaign enters the second half of 2012 with $1,162,393.54 in cash on hand.

“We will use this money to continue a field program that already has been called the best in the country. We have had dozens of staff in the field every day for months. They are talking with voters, spreading our message, and making sure that people know what is at stake in this election,” said Grayson.

The Grayson campaign raised a total of $820,830 in the 2nd quarter of 2012. That total is more than five times as much as all the Republican candidates for District 9 raised combined so far in this election cycle.

The strength of Grayson’s “People Power” campaign remains crystal clear. In the 2nd quarter, 14,278 individuals contributed an average of $41 each to the campaign. Also of note is the Grayson campaign’s lack of reliance on money from special interests or political action committees (PACs). In the 2nd quarter, PAC contributions made up only 2% of all the money raised by the Committee to Elect Alan Grayson.
