GRAYSON RACE NOT EVEN “VAGUELY COMPETITIVE”
Political Prognosticators Expect Easy Reelection

(ORLANDO, Fla.) – Three of the most widely-referenced political handicappers all agree that Congressman Alan Grayson (D-Orlando) will cruise to another victory in the 2014 election.

Professor Larry Sabato at the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics rates Grayson’s seat as Safe Democratic, which means the race is not even “vaguely competitive at this point.”

Likewise, the Rothenberg Political Report labels Florida’s 9th Congressional District as “Safe Democrat,” which is the most favorable rating a Democratic candidate can get.

Finally, the Cook Political Report rates the Grayson seat as “D+8”.”  To put that into a perspective, a Democrat holds every U.S. House seat above D+2, with only one exception.

These rankings should surprise no one.  We won by 25 points. It was the biggest comeback in the history of the U.S. House of Representatives.  The people of District 9 understand that I work hard, pay attention and get things done for everyone.  By 2014, that will be even clearer than it is right now,” said Grayson.

Congressman Alan Grayson is a Democrat from Orlando.  He represents Florida’s heavily-Democratic 9th Congressional District, which includes southern Orange County, Osceola County and eastern Polk County.
